Job summary

Simply Ed invites applicants for a part-time K-12 Teacher’s Assistant in Brooklyn public schools. You’ll support teachers, reinforce literacy and numeracy, and help students across grades K–12. Placement varies by school, with schedules on weekdays and a predictable calendar aligned to NYC DOE.

Prior tutoring or classroom experience is a plus, and PETS background check is required. Compensation is $26 per hour, non-exempt, with opportunities to grow through training, mentoring, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Fluent in English with clear communication skills.
• Experience or training in tutoring, teaching assistant roles, or classroom settings preferred.
• Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide push-in classroom support during academic instruction, reinforcing lessons with teachers.
• Offer one-on-one and small-group academic support to students needing extra help.
• Collaborate with teachers to provide targeted instructional assistance aligned with daily lessons.
• Reinforce subject-specific skills in assigned areas such as ELA, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies.
• Help students develop learning strategies and confidence, breaking down concepts into manageable steps.
• Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
