Job summary

The Southwest Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Council Bluffs is seeking part-time Youth Detention Workers to support safety and care for detained youths aged 12–17. Flexible hours include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. The role offers weekend differential pay and potential for advancement among a dedicated team.

Applicants must submit 3 references and pass background and pre-employment screens. Uniforms are provided, and IPERS coverage applies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth preferred, but not required.
• Ability to be a role model and positive influence for at-risk youth.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of all juveniles and the facility.
• Direct supervision and care of detained youth.
• Manage intake process for detained juveniles.
• Guide juveniles through daily programming and group sessions.
