Job summary

Linn County in Iowa is seeking a night-shift supervisor for Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services. You will supervise, monitor, and maintain security and safety of residents, conduct intakes, and respond to emergencies.

The role requires a high school diploma with 2 years' experience or an associate degree in a related field; equivalent combinations may be considered. The position offers competitive wages at $24.46 per hour, with a Saturday–Wednesday night schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years' experience in care, counseling, and management of dependent youths.
• Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, sociology, criminal justice or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, monitors, and maintains security and safety of residents.
• Conducts intake activities and interviews to obtain information.
• Checks and maintains security and safety of residents continually.
• Responds to emergencies such as escapes, medical issues, or drug incidents.
• Uses non-mechanical restraints to protect residents and others.
• Supervises residents during late evening and early morning hours.
• Monitors building access with cameras and security systems.
• May wake residents, supervise showers, and dispense medication as needed.
• Maintains daily records and program data entry and reporting.
• Promotes appropriate behavior and assists with program goals.
• Performs light maintenance tasks like cleaning and laundry.
• Explains and enforces rules consistently and fairly.
• Listens to the Voice of the Customer and closes gaps between expectations and experience.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience in the care, counseling, and management of dependent, neglected, and delinquent adolescents.

Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, sociology, criminal justice or related field.

An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills for this position may be considered.
