Job summary

Midlands Technical College is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach IT courses across multiple campuses in South Carolina. Instructors will deliver hands-on labs, lectures, and assessments aligned with CompTIA objectives and current certification standards.

The role emphasizes clear concepts, demonstrations, and effective use of instructional technology; assignments may include evening, hybrid, or online instruction within the Corporate and Continuing Education department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, networking, systems administration, or related field.
• Current CompTIA certification aligned with the subject area, or ability to obtain upon hire (Tech+, A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, Cloud+, CySA+).
• Experience supporting computer hardware, networks, Windows systems, servers, cybersecurity, virtualization, or cloud environments.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and provide hands-on demonstrations.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to use instructional technology and maintain course documentation.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses within the Desktop and Server Administrator program; conduct lectures and hands-on labs; connect instruction to course objectives and current certification standards.
• Prepare lessons, activities, assessments, and lab exercises; maintain attendance, grades, and course records; communicate student progress to program staff.
• Guide students in identifying security threats, responding to incidents, recovering from vulnerabilities, and applying industry-standard security practices.
• Remain current with CompTIA objectives and emerging technologies through professional development; teach in-person, lab, hybrid, or online formats as needed.
