Job summary

McLennan Community College seeks an instructor to provide didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction for the Surgical Technology program.

Provide didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction to students in the Surgical Technology program. Plan, supervise, and evaluate student learning and skills development in assigned instructional and clinical settings. Ensure students receive appropriate instruction, supervision, and timely assessment of their progress toward meeting program requirements while providing instruction consistent with professional credentials, education, experience, and expertise in the designated content area. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining office hours, promoting, and supporting extra-curricular activities, working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include face-to-face, non-traditional teaching modalities or time frames, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, blended, and/or online courses. They must be able to travel to clinical facilities and be flexible to teach as needed. Employee may not exceed 19.5 hours per week.

NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Restricted-Sustained posture, for prolonged periods; light lifting, some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

MINIUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Experience: Minimum of two years of work experience within the past five years in an operating room scrub role, as a Surgical Technology Instructor, or a combination of both.

Special Requirement: Current credential in Surgical Technology through a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
