Basic Functions

Essential Functions of Position

Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Primary duties of part‑time faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Part‑time instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.

Part‑Time Instructor Salary Rate

The starting credit part‑time faculty rate from salary table 11 is $102.90 per hour for lecture and $82.33 per hour for lab. If you have a doctorate, the rate is $107.87 per hour for lecture and $86.30 per hour for lab.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's in history
• Bachelor's in history AND Master's in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women's studies, social science or ethnic studies
• Or the equivalent (see equivalency guidelines)

A combination of education and other accomplishments that are equivalent to the above. If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement presenting the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence (e.g., transcripts, publications, other products). Possess a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to all of the above.
