Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of postsecondary study or an associate’s degree or a passing score on a state or local academic assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in the instructional setting.
• Assists students and teachers with various literacy activities.
• Prepares assignments, organizes and manages student work and progress binders under teacher direction.
• Implements planned activities using teacher designed methods and materials for individual and small student groups for instructional support.
• Prepares instructional materials using various office equipment, resource materials and AV equipment.
• Assesses and reports student progress.
• Supervises and ensures student safety in indoor/outdoor activities including cafe, bus loading/unloading, field trips, hallways and other areas where students gather.
• Maintains a safe environment for students and reports concerns to the school administrator.
• Maintains competency in all position responsibilities.
• Complies with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Provides support to other positions as needed.
• Assumes additional responsibilities with little or no supervision.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education
