Job summary

Diocese of San Jose seeks an Instructional Assistant to support teachers in delivering lessons and managing a positive classroom. You will help with small-group and individual instruction, monitor student progress, and assist in preparing instructional materials.

Requires a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred) and prior experience supporting students in educational settings. This role includes supervision of students and adherence to school policies within a Catholic environment.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Course credits in child development preferred.
• At least two years’ experience in educational programming or as an educational aide preferred.
• Experience supervising children.
• Training to perform principal/teacher-assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teacher with classroom management and instruction; support small groups and individuals.
• Report student progress and behavior; monitor drills and assignments.
• Ensure health and safety; maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and lesson plans.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom.
• Attend meetings as needed.
