MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland, ME is seeking an experienced Part-Time (0.75 FTE/30 hrs) Advance Practice Provider to join our Palliative Care team. The role focuses on inpatient palliative care, symptom management, and family-centered support in a multidisciplinary setting.

You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers and chaplains, provide education to staff, and document in EPIC.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current license and registration to practice as an APRN or PA in Maine.
  • 3+ years of NP/PA experience or palliative medicine training/certification.
  • Ability to obtain medical histories and develop treatment plans with guidance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse teams and patients.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment techniques and wellness evaluation.
  • Proficient in case management, time management, and problem solving.
  • Ability to educate patients, families, and staff about palliative care.
  • Strong computer skills and use of health information systems.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Provides inpatient palliative care consults with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborates with primary teams to align goals of care and post-discharge plans.
  • Adheres to evidence-based care and NCP guidelines.
  • Documents activities timely in the EPIC EMR system.
  • Educates non-palliative staff and supports culture transformation.
  • Respects patient confidentiality, privacy, and dignity.
  • Delivers timely, courteous patient care with sensitivity to needs.
  • Participates in practice group meetings and assignments.
  • Educates medical students, residents, nurses, and APP colleagues.
