Job summary

City of Bloomington, MN is seeking an Ice Garden Specialist to maintain a quality ice surface and keep lockers, lobbies, and surrounding areas clean at the Bloomington Ice Garden. The role supports scheduled resurfacings and general ice maintenance under the Facility Supervisor.

This part-time, year-round position requires 8–24 hours per week, with a starting wage between $17.44 and $18.86 per hour. Availability for nights and weekends is expected; benefits do not apply to this role.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to follow written and oral direction.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.
• Ability to work in cold air and outdoor environments.
• Experience operating ice resurfacing equipment (Desirable).
• Experience sharpening skates (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Maintain ice rink, locker rooms, bleachers and surrounding areas as assigned by the Supervisor.
• Follow posted resurfacing times to maintain facility schedule.
• Clean facility and surroundings to keep a neat, presentable environment.
• Team with staff to ensure building is clean, stocked and ready for next day’s operation.
• Provide customer service and share information with the public.
• Assist in opening/closing building as needed.
• Staff rink office, sharpen skates, answer calls and handle office tasks.
• Shovel and salt sidewalks and exits for safe entry/egress.
