Job summary

Regions Hospital in Minnesota is seeking a part-time Lactation Consultant to support breastfeeding care for inpatients and outpatients. The role involves direct assessment, counseling, and problem-solving for issues such as latch difficulties, low milk supply, and prematurity.

You will work under the Nurse Manager, referring to a multidisciplinary team and contributing to lactation education for nursing and medical staff.

Qualifications

• Completion of a healthcare related program or equivalent experience.
• Two years’ experience in same or similar role is accepted in lieu of program.
• Currently certified as an IBCLC or will be in 6 months.
• Competency in CPR at employment and every two years thereafter.
• Knowledge of lactation physiology and breastfeeding techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively with mothers and their companions.
• Knowledge of teaching and learning principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation counsel to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Assess breastfeeding issues and guide care including latch, milk supply, and prematurity.
• Refer to interdisciplinary team members as needed.
• Assist in development and teaching of lactation education to nursing and medical staff.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
