Job summary

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a part-time Humane Education Instructor at our Papago Park Campus. The role requires a flexible schedule, including Saturdays and Sundays, to engage communities with animal welfare education and hands-on learning experiences.

This position involves leading programs for all ages—scouts, birthdays, reading programs, tours, field trips, school programs and camps—while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining safe learning environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience facilitating youth education programs preferred.
• 1–2 years' experience working with children in an education or instructional setting (formal/informal).
• Valid AZ driver's license.
• Fingerprint clearance card required.
• Ability to use positive techniques to manage disruptions among youth.
• Ability to multitask during programming, managing both animals and guests.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Customer service experience required.
• Reliable transportation and a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
• Must be able to handle live animals, including snakes and invertebrates, safely and humanely.
• Able to speak, read and write English; Spanish helpful.

Responsibilities

• Create interactive learning experiences that inspire compassion for animals and our community.
• Facilitate programs for all ages, including scout programs, birthday parties, reading programs, tours, field trips, school programs, and camps.
• Engage diverse audiences with enthusiastic, patient instruction and maintain safe learning environments.
• Set up and break down instructional spaces and provide excellent customer service.
• Process payments and perform light administrative work related to scheduling, reporting, and record keeping.
