A great UHY client is seeking a Part Time Human Resources Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources, payroll systems and employee benefits.

The Part Time Human Resources Specialist role is a remote position with 5-10 hours a month. This is a client direct hire position.

Part Time Human Resources Specialist Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with leadership and accounting to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, benefits compliance, and employee support.

Payroll Management

• Oversee and process biweekly or monthly payroll for employees and contractors
• Ensure accurate tracking of hours, PTO, bonuses, and deductions
• Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
• Stay current on federal and state payroll laws and ensure compliance
• Coordinate with accounting for tax filings and year-end documents (W-2s, 1099s)

Benefits Administration

• Manage employee benefits programs including health insurance, dental/vision, life insurance, and retirement plans
• Serve as liaison between the company and benefits providers
• Support open enrollment, employee changes, and benefit inquiries
• Ensure compliance with COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations
• Maintain accurate records and assist with audits or reporting requirements

HR Support & Compliance

• Maintain HR records related to compensation and benefits
• Support onboarding/offboarding related to payroll and benefits enrollment
• Provide guidance on HR policies related to pay and benefits
• Assist with creating or updating HR documents and SOPs as needed

Part Time Human Resources Specialist Qualifications:

• Proven experience in payroll and benefits administration (3+ years preferred)
• Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll)
• Familiarity with employee benefits platforms and compliance requirements
• Understanding of HR best practices and relevant labor laws in Michigan
• Excellent communication, organization, and confidentiality
• Able to work independently and manage deadlines
• Experience working in a consulting or contractor capacity preferred
• This is a part-time, remote position with 5-10 hours a month.
