Job summary

Better Together Hospice in Akron, OH is seeking a Part-Time Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families during end-of-life care.

The role requires collaboration with nurses and social workers, travel to patient homes within the service area, and sensitivity to diverse faiths. The position includes health insurance, life insurance, and paid holidays and vacation.

Qualifications

• Education or training in pastoral care, theology, divinity, ministry, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in hospice, palliative care, pastoral care, or healthcare preferred.
• Compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to individuals from diverse faiths and belief.
• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to patient homes and contracted facilities within the assigned service area.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families.
• Assess individual spiritual needs, beliefs, and preferences.
• Develop personalized spiritual care plans based on patient and family needs.
• Offer prayer, scripture, mediation, active listening, and other spiritual support as requested.
• Provide emotional support to patients experiencing grief, anxiety, fear, or end-of-life concerns.
• Offer bereavement support and guidance to family members as appropriate.
• Collaborate with nurses, social workers, aides, and other members of the hospice care team.
• Communicate changes in patient or family needs to the appropriate care team members.
• Respect each patient’s cultural, spiritual, and religious beliefs, including the choice not to participate in spiritual activities.

PAY:

$28.00-$32.00 per hour, based on experience
