Job summary

Better Together Hospice in Akron, OH is seeking a Part-Time Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families during end-of-life care. The organization is nurse-owned and CHAP accredited, emphasizing compassionate, respectful care for all patients.

The chaplain will assess spiritual needs, develop care plans, offer prayer and active listening, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Education or training in pastoral care, theology, divinity, ministry, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in hospice, palliative care, pastoral care, or healthcare preferred.
• Compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to individuals from diverse faiths and belief.
• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families.
• Assess individual spiritual needs, beliefs, and preferences.
• Develop personalized spiritual care plans based on patient and family needs.
• Offer prayer, scripture, meditation, active listening, and other spiritual support as requested.
• Provide emotional support to patients experiencing grief, anxiety, fear, or end-of-life concerns.
• Offer bereavement support and guidance to family members as appropriate.
• Collaborate with nurses, social workers, aides, and other members of the hospice care team.
• Communicate changes in patient or family needs to the appropriate care team members.
• Respect each patient’s cultural, spiritual, and religious beliefs, including the choice not to participate in spiritual activities.

PAY:

$28.00-$32.00 per hour, based on experience

Qualifications:

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to patient homes and contracted facilities within the assigned service area.
