Job summary

City of San Leandro is seeking a part-time Senior Library Assistant to support the History Museum and Library operations. Duties include facilitating tours for 3rd–4th graders, scheduling and preparing tours, supervising students and chaperones, and updating content as curriculum changes require.

Additional duties involve assisting with other youth programs and public desk support, under direction and with training provided by library/museum staff.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to completion of the 12th grade, with college coursework in library science, history, education or related field.
• Two years of increasingly responsible library or administrative support experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with library and museum programs and tours for students and youth.
• Provide customer service at public desks and assist patrons with reference inquiries.
• Set up for tours and events and help with materials and supplies.
• Supervise students and volunteers during programs and tours; coordinate with teachers and chaperones.
• Assist with planning and leading other youth programs and activities.
