Job summary

The Yosemite Community College District seeks a Part‑Time Instructor of History at Columbia College for 2026‑2027. The role focuses on equity in student success, teaching lower‑division History/Political Science, and contributing to curriculum responsive to student needs.

Candidates should hold a Master’s in History or Political Science (or related fields), with strong commitment to diverse learners and ongoing professional growth in state initiatives and innovative pedagogy.

Qualifications

Master’s in History or Political Science or a related field is required.
J.D. or equivalent is acceptable where relevant to the position.
Commitment to equity and serving a diverse community-college student population.
Ability to develop innovative curriculum and teaching practices.
Experience teaching History/Political Science at the community-college level is preferred.

Responsibilities

Teach lower-division courses in History/Political Science.
Advance equitable student learning through exemplary instruction aligned with course outlines.
Inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance.
Prepare and grade assignments and examinations and inform students of progress.
Maintain attendance, scholastic, and other records per policies.
Develop, implement, and assess student-learning outcomes for courses and programs.
Engage in data inquiry and self-assessment to improve student success and equity.
Participate in professional development to fulfill FLEX requirements.
Maintain current knowledge in the subject area and effective teaching strategies.
Uphold professional conduct and ethics.
