Job summary

Greenspire School in Traverse City is seeking a part-time Art Teacher with valid Michigan teaching certification and endorsement to teach high school arts. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging visual arts instruction for grades 6–12, develop lesson plans, assessments, and coordinate student exhibitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or related field.
• Valid Michigan teaching certification with endorsement in the subject.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage students and families.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to planning and assessment.
• Solid knowledge of art techniques, materials, history, and pedagogy.
• Passion for arts education and fostering creativity in learners.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of art techniques and concepts using mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
• Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned to curriculum standards and adaptable to diverse learners.
• Create assessments and monitor student performance through tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
• Organize student art exhibits and showcase work to the school community.
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in professional development.
• Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment and effective communication with students and parents.
