Provide an entry level for an individual to participate in an approved home health training program. These health and health related services include personal care, assisting in ambulation and exercise, household services essential to health care at home, and appropriate record keeping.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience: (N/A)
Substitution Clause

Appropriate health related experience (aide in nursing home, hospital, home health agency) may substitute for the education requirements on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of four (4) years.

Special Requirements
  • Must have telephone accessibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid Driver’s License.
  • Criminal background check.
Post Employment Requirements

EMPLOYEES IN THIS CLASS WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN CREDENTIALS OUTLINED BELOW WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME, OR IF EMPLOYEES POSSESS SUCH CREDENTIALS AT THE TIME OF HIRE THEY WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN THOSE CREDENTIALS SO LONG AS THEY ARE EMPLOYED IN THIS CAPACITY. (N/A)

The Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) is responsible for developing and operating state public health programs and activities for the citizens of Kentucky. The mission of DPH is to improve the health and safety of people in Kentucky through prevention, promotion and protection. The department oversees programs designed to improve the lives of citizens and visitors through prevention of negative health outcomes, promotion of healthy lifestyles and protection from diseases, injury and environmental health impacts. DPH has almost 150 different programs to help Kentuckians become healthier in cooperation with its partners such as local health departments, universities, private providers, etc. To support many of these programs, the department relies on high-quality data to guide decision making at the state and local levels such as the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, Immunization Registry and Office of Vital Statistics.
