Job summary

Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Commack, NY is seeking a part-time Laundry Attendant for the day shift (19 hours weekly). Duties include handling laundry, cleaning, and coordinating with staff to ensure resident comfort and hygiene.

Experience in healthcare laundry is preferred. The role supports a clean, safe environment and requires standing for periods. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be able to use equipment and keep it neat and clean according to department requirements.
• Performs laundry functions: collection, distribution, putting away and organizing clothing in resident drawers/closets.
• Investigates lost or misappropriated clothing; maintains clean supplies and uses laundry equipment correctly.

Responsibilities

• Experience in a hospital or nursing home preferred.
• Knowledge of dementia population and related behaviors.
• Understands written and oral instructions.
• Learn and adopt new work methods.
• Capable of wet dusting, mopping and polishing.
• Capable of standing and walking for long periods.
• Cleans area with established procedures and products to maintain hygiene.
• Removes trash and delivers clean items to designated areas.
• Inspects laundry mesh bags for repair when needed.
• Operates washers/dryers and cleans lint traps.
• Reports unsafe conditions or equipment issues to supervisor.
• Interacts appropriately with residents, staff and family.
