Job summary

The Savannah Convention Center is seeking a Part-Time General Maintenance Technician to support daily upkeep of our 660,000-square-foot facility. You’ll work under the Chief Engineer, handling electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and related tasks to ensure spaces are safe, functional and guest-ready.

Ideal candidates are hands-on problem solvers who communicate effectively, troubleshoot efficiently, and collaborate with a dedicated engineering team to deliver outstanding experiences

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
• Minimum of two years of trade or helper experience in the convention and/or tradeshow industry or a comparable position in a specialized trade field.
• Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with commercial building systems, maintenance equipment, and applicable trade practices.
• Working knowledge of multiple maintenance disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, masonry, or related trade fields.
• Proven ability to perform assigned maintenance-related responsibilities in a commercial environment.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, multitasking, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently on assigned responsibilities while collaborating effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the Chief Engineer to support daily maintenance and upkeep of the Savannah Convention Center.
• Perform general maintenance duties across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, brick masonry, and related trades.
• Identify equipment and facility issues and promptly notify management for repairs or replacements.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean working condition.
• Demonstrate attention to detail in keeping facility appearance and functionality up to standard.
• Assist with installation of engineering services for building events and respond to maintenance requests timely.
• Adapt to changing priorities, troubleshoot problems, and assist in resolving maintenance challenges.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain clean, organized, safe work environment.
• Collaborate with Engineering and other departments to support facility operations and event needs.
• Attend required training and meetings; provide high-quality customer service to exhibitors, clients, and vendors.
• Handle additional duties and special projects as needed under the Chief Engineer’s direction.
