Job summary

Solid Rock Music Academy in Chico, CA is seeking a part-time Guitar Music Instructor to provide high-quality, individualized guitar lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels, adapting instruction to each learner’s pace and goals.

You will plan structured lessons, teach technique, music theory, and reading notation while upholding Christian values, integrity, and a supportive, encouraging classroom. Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred and applicant must be 18 or older.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in guitar across various styles and skill levels.
• Ability to read guitar notation and tablature.
• Prior teaching guitar to children, youth, or adults preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate guitar lessons tailored to each student’s current skill level, learning pace, and musical goals.
• Develop structured lesson plans and curriculum aligned with SRMA program standards and Christian values.
• Teach proper guitar technique including hand positioning, fingerstyle and pick technique, chord formation, posture, and practice habits.
• Foster a Christ-centered, encouraging learning environment that motivates students to pursue musical excellence.
• Prepare students for SRMA recitals, showcases, and performance events.
• Follow SRMA policies, safety procedures, and code of conduct at all times.
