Job summary

The City of Cortez, Colorado is hiring a part-time Fitness Instructor to deliver safe, engaging group fitness opportunities for our community. This role leads classes, helps participants progress, and maintains a positive, inclusive class environment.

You’ll schedule classes with the Recreation Coordinator, assist with setup and teardown, monitor safety, and respond to incidents as needed. This position offers sick leave and the chance to help neighbors move, learn, and feel better.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong oral and written communication; works well with others.

Responsibilities

• Teach and assist group fitness classes for varied skill levels.
• Coordinate class offerings with the Recreation Coordinator to support a balanced schedule.
• Help prevent and respond to incidents that may create unsafe conditions.
• Complete physical setup/teardown, equipment care, and related preparation.
