Job summary

City of Brighton Recreation Center seeks a Group Fitness Instructor to lead engaging, safe fitness classes in a busy recreation environment. Instructors set up the space, screen participants, and guide workouts with modification options to suit all fitness levels.

Responsibilities include safe class sequencing, clear cueing, and maintaining equipment and safety protocols. Current national certification and CPR/AED are required, along with a valid Colorado driver’s license and background check.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one accredited Group Fitness Instructor or Personal Training certification (must be current).
• Minimum of 1-year instructor experience preferred.
• CPR/AED certification (must be current or obtained within 3 months of hiring).
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and set class environment and music volume.
• Conduct pre-class screening; address medical concerns.
• Instruct participants with safe, modifiable routines.
• Demonstrate safe class sequences and level-appropriate modifications.
• Educate participants using clear verbal and visual cues.
• Maintain smooth sequencing and transitions during classes.
• Substitute for other instructors when needed.
• Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
