Job summary

Historic Hudson Valley in Westchester County, NY, is seeking a Part-Time Groundskeeper to maintain landscapes across its historic properties. This on-site role reports to the Landscape Manager and offers outdoor work, seasonal hours, and the chance to contribute to preserving heritage sites.

Responsibilities include caring for plantings, lawn maintenance, snow removal in winter, site cleanliness, equipment care, and assisting with special events.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs regularly.
• Experience in landscape maintenance activities.
• Professional, punctual, and reliable work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions including rain, snow, and heat.
• Comfort with exposure to pesticides and other landscaping chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Care for Living Collection: maintain trees, shrubs and herbaceous plantings responsibly.
• Site Appearance: keep sites tidy with trash removal and debris cleanup.
• Lawn Maintenance: mow, trim, edge and apply seasonal lawn products.
• Snow Removal: perform plowing, blowing, shoveling, and ice melt as needed.
• Shop & Equipment Maintenance: keep tools and equipment organized and perform basic repairs.
• Power Equipment Care: maintain and store equipment after use.
• Safety: use PPE and stay aware when using tools.
• Special Events Support: assist with event setup, breakdown and staffing.
