Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a part-time Utility Worker for the P.R.E.P Academy to assist in maintaining park grounds and City facilities. Under supervision, you will perform cleaning, labor, and maintenance tasks and participate in required training courses.

The program includes job readiness activities, externships, and guidance for future employment or education opportunities. Ability to work outdoors, follow directions, and collaborate with others is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning, labor, and maintenance tasks to ensure parks and facilities are safe and presentable.
• Collect litter, waste, and debris to support cleanliness across City departments.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and cooperative work environment by following safety protocols.
• Respond to weather-related conditions by helping with clean-up like snow/ice removal when needed.
• Participate in beautification projects and cross-department externships as directed.
• Engage in training to improve computer literacy and job readiness skills.
