Job summary

Lamar Institute of Technology is seeking an Instructor of Government to teach Texas and Federal Government courses at the Sam Houston State University Campus. The role is part-time and exempt, with hours varying by course schedule, including day, evening, and weekend classes.

Responsibilities include delivering engaging instruction, maintaining professional conduct, attending adjunct meetings, and assessing courses.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Government/Political Science/related field or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Government/Political Science/related field from a regionally accredited institution
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
Possess good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Possess good time management skills

Responsibilities

Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process
Maintain ethical and professional behavior
Attend adjunct faculty meetings
Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
Complete required training, such as Blackboard Online Instructor Certification and Title IX Training, FERPA, etc.
Utilize LIT’s TLC and SHSU Faculty Online Development Training to improve teaching skills
Maintain knowledge of and adherence to TSUS and LIT policies and procedures
Other related duties as assigned
