Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation is seeking a Project Assistant for GIS and Data Analytics on an hourly, part-time basis. You will support projects by researching, analyzing data, and creating dashboards and maps to inform department decisions.

The role focuses on internal and public dashboards, data visualization, and GIS mapping, with a strong emphasis on data quality and opportunities for automation. Proficiency in ArcGIS, Power BI, or Tableau, and coding languages like SQL, Python, or R are

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or Business Administration or related field, or four years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of project management, statistical analysis, and research methods.
Ability to present project details using complex spreadsheet analysis, graphics, and technical reports.
Familiarity with ArcGIS, Tableau, Power BI and coding languages such as SQL, Python, or R.

Responsibilities

Conducts research on assigned issues, performs analysis, and assesses impacts on policy and budgets.
Facilitates meetings with city departments and external groups to gather insights for project goals.
Develops parameters for projects including resources, schedules, and budgets; tracks progress.
Monitors and reports on program activities; assists with contracts compliance.
May represent the department at community or governmental meetings.
