Job summary

City of Boulder is seeking a GIS professional to support the Planning and Development Services department. You will perform spatial analysis, geodatabase design, and develop GIS solutions to meet city-wide needs. The role emphasizes cartography, data standards, and collaboration across departments.

The position is part-time (20 hours weekly) with a hybrid work arrangement and potential in-office days. A Bachelor's degree in geography or related field is required; a Master’s is preferred along

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and initiative.
• Ability to troubleshoot and work independently while solving problems.
• Experience with object-oriented and/or scripting languages.
• Familiarity with GIS software including ArcGIS Pro/Online, Experience Builder, StoryMaps, Survey123, Field Maps.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; database queries and basic SQL knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver simple geospatial solutions to meet business needs.
• Create cartographic products for print, presentation, or digital use.
• Maintain GIS datasets with data quality best practices.
• Develop GIS data standards and procedures; maintain metadata and documentation.
• Use programming/scripting to automate processes.
• Collaborate with City departments to share GIS resources and best practices.
• Design and implement field data collection solutions.
