Job summary

Harrison School District 2 is seeking an assistant coach to help student athletes develop sport skills, discipline, and self-esteem. The role supports pre-season and post-season training under the athlete development program, coaching individuals and enforcing safe, sportsmanlike conduct during practices and competitions.

Preferred candidates include licensed staff or CHSAA-certified coaches, with First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Licensed staff member; HSD2 ESP; or CHSAA Certified Coach.
• Ability to meet CHSAA guidelines and Harrison School District Two coaching requirements.
• Knowledge of and ability to teach skills and fundamentals of specific sport to a varied ability group.
• Ability to work in a diverse population.
• Prior coaching experience required; head coaching experience preferred.
• Must believe in building positive relationships.
• Meet any state, district or school requirements.
• Must be available to work with players pre-season & post season, as well as summer.
• Must be First Aide/CPR Certified or be able to pass certification test.
• Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Assist participating student athletes in achieving a high level of skill.
• Develop discipline and sportsmanship values and increase self-esteem.
• Assist during pre-season and post-season training following athlete development program.
• Coach individual participants in sport skills and oversee safety conditions during practice and competition.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike conduct at all times and oversee consequences for breaches.
