Job summary

North Carolina Aquarium Society is seeking a part-time Gift Shop Sales Associate to join the Gift Shop team, reporting to the Gift Shop Manager.

You will greet customers, recommend merchandise, process payments with a POS, promote memberships, keep displays neat, and help create a positive visitor experience.

Flexibility to work weekends and holidays and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to greet customers and determine needs; provide information and answers.
• Process payments and handle transactions via POS system.
• Promote and sell aquarium memberships and related items.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers and determines what each customer wants or needs.
• Recommends, selects, and helps to locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
• Describes merchandise and explains use, operation, and care to customers.
• Computes sales prices, total purchases, and processes cash or credit payments.
• Promotes and sells aquarium memberships.
• Maintains knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices.
• Places special orders or calls other aquarium stores to locate items.
• Keeps store and displays clean and organized; replenishes stock.
• Creates a positive visitor experience and handles difficult customer situations.
• Responds to customer requests and solicits feedback.
