Job summary

VDOT is seeking a Part-Time Accountant to ensure accuracy of financial transactions in Cardinal, provide services to internal and external customers, and support GAAP-compliant reporting. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals and the ability to work with government policies.

Responsibilities include AR processing, compliance reviews, data analysis, and preparation of accounting work papers and financial statements.

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge and experience with governmental accounting preferred.
• Strong accounting fundamentals in AR, AP, GL and reconciliations.
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers clearly.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy of all financial transactions posted into Cardinal.
• Provide internal and external customers with financial services.
• Prepare accounting work papers, financial statements and other financial reports.
• Perform full range of accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, federal, state, and VDOT policies.
• Advise users on VDOT policies and practices.
• Support other accounting functions and projects as assigned.
• Respond to inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
• Perform special duties as assigned.
• Accounts Receivable: process account receivables and monitor collections.
• Compliance Review: perform compliance reviews on accounting transactions.
