Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals’ Correctional Health Services division seeks a part-time psychologist to conduct court-ordered evaluations for criminal defendants and provide detailed forensic reports. You will supervise clinicians in training and participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the Queens Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinic.

Required are an active NYSED psychologist license, 2+ years post-licensure with supervisory experience, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid NYSED license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist.
• Two years of post-licensure experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
• Completion of NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory training within three months of appointment.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct court-ordered fitness to proceed evaluations of criminal defendants under CPL Article 730 and presentencing evaluations under CPL Article 390; prepare timely written reports for submission to Courts; provide courtroom testimony as necessary.
• Perform psychological testing (e.g., intelligence, neuropsychological, personality, malingering) as needed.
• Provide teaching and supervision for clinicians in training.
• Participate in regular supervision with the Director of the Queens FPECC.
• Engage in staff meetings, clinic quality improvement projects, and continuing education.
• Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
• Occasionally conduct CPL 730 and CPL 390 evaluations in other FPECC clinics (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan).
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Queens FPECC or the city-wide Director of the Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court.
