Job summary

The New Jewish Home Career Center in Bronx, NY is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker for the Adult Day Health Care program at 1200 Waters Place. Shift is from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, 22.5 hours per week, five days per week with alternating Saturdays.

The role supports safe food handling, teamwork, and maintaining a clean, sanitary environment for clients, staff, and self. Prior food service knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Has general knowledge of food preparation and handling technique; able to execute various food service assignments; able to work as a team member, can work independently given the proper direction.
• Can provide a clean, safe and neat environment for clients, self and staff.

Responsibilities

• Handles the storage preparation, portioning and serving food.
• Cleans immediate work areas and maintains clean and sanitary work environment.
• Washing of small wares and equipment, conforming to all sanitary codes and standards.
• Prepares cold foods, salads and nourishment as needed or required.
• Perform other related duties as required.
