Job summary

Sheltering Arms is seeking a Part Time Food Service Assistant to support meal preparation and safe operation of the kitchen. You will help with nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks, while maintaining records and assisting with inventory.

You will follow CACFP meal patterns, ensure proper portion sizes, and assist with dietary accommodations as needed in a child-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable of the nutritional values of foods used in menu substitutions.
• Must be able to relate to children and adults in a positive manner.
• Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs without assistance and 50 lbs with assistance.
• Must be familiar with USDA meal patterns.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritious meals as directed by the Food Service Manager.
• Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack per menus.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with inventory.
• Ensure sanitation and safety of kitchen areas and equipment.
• Follow CACFP meal patterns and portion sizes by age.
• Assist with ordering from approved vendors and check deliveries.
• Assist with special dietary accommodations as needed.
