Job summary

Berklee College of Music in Boston seeks a part-time BCB Language Tutor to support faculty in Fluency for Singers and Diction courses. Tutors meet weekly with students and may assist with Graduate Diction in French, Italian or German.

Prior IPA and diction knowledge is required; native fluency in tutoring language preferred. The role emphasizes independent scheduling, one-on-one teaching, and aligning content with course needs; interview with Chair of Voice will assess language use and teaching

Qualifications

• Fluent in the tutoring language, spoken and written.
• Understand how language is used in opera and song texts.
• Fluent with IPA and diction rules for the languages.
• Must have taken the appropriate fluency/diction courses (course codes referenced).
• Must demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently with a student.

Responsibilities

• Meet weekly with students for tutoring in Fluency for Singers or Graduate Remedial language courses.
• May tutor in Graduate Diction; French, Italian or German diction.
• Content of tutoring determined with the course teacher per student needs.
