Job summary

Wake Technical Community College is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach Fire Services in Continuing Education. Positions are part-time and temporary, with openings in various areas possible after qualifications review.

Qualifications

  • Must hold NC Fire & Rescue Commission General Instructor Level I or equivalent certification.
  • Applicant must have education and/or experience delivering fire/rescue/emergency preparedness training; certification in teaching area preferred when not for certification.
  • Candidates should be able to prepare and deliver instructional materials and assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers instruction reflecting learning outcomes aligned with current industry standards.
  • Constructs course materials supporting course goals.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
  • Instructs and guides class in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Uses formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning.
  • Designs curriculum and schedule of instruction.
  • Maintains communication with course instructors and participates in discussions.
  • Stays up-to-date with technology and teaching methods.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Grading and timely return of student work.
  • Counsels students regarding grades and progress.
  • Supports department, division, and college goals by providing requested data.
