Job summary

Merced College is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor for the Los Banos Campus on a part-time basis (19 hours per week). The role involves advising students on eligibility for aid, processing applications, and guiding them through budgeting and progress requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with 3 years of experience or an associate’s degree. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Education/Training/Experience: High school diploma or GED with 3 years' experience; or an associate's degree; or equivalent.
• Diversity sensitivity: understanding of diverse backgrounds among community college students.
• Experience with Student Information System/ERP is desired.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and counsels students on all aspects of financial aid, including grants, loans, scholarships, employment, book vouchers, and emergencies
• Determines student awards and refers to other support services
• Verifies prior financial aid information on incoming students
• Performs data entry for needs analysis, packaging and program eligibility requirements
