Job summary

CSUMB is seeking an Financial Aid Outreach Counselor to support outreach and enrollment management efforts by representing the Office of Financial Aid at on-campus and community events, and by advising prospective and continuing students on financial aid programs.

The role involves counseling students and families, delivering presentations, and collaborating with Enrollment Management to support campus enrollment goals. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Monterey Bay.

Qualifications

• Education: Four-year college/university degree in behavioral sciences, public or business administration or related field (or substitution).
• Experience: Typically two years in student services or related field; master’s degree can substitute for one year.
• Desirable: Second language proficiency and experience with financial aid data systems.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate financial aid applicants using Federal, State and CSU standards; determine eligibility and explain the aid process.
• Represent Financial Aid at campus and community recruitment events; deliver presentations on aid programs and financing options.
• Counsel prospective and current students and families via email, phone, and in person; provide accurate information and assist with enrollment goals.
