Job summary

RTI International is seeking self-motivated individuals to serve as Part-Time Field Interviewers for the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG). You will conduct in-person interviews in selected households, screening participants for eligibility and collecting sensitive information in privacy using a project-provided tablet.

The role offers a flexible, long-term part-time schedule with evening and weekend work, standing and walking, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Must possess High School Diploma or GED.
• Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening.
• Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking.
• Available for entire training and data collection period.
• Able to successfully complete training.
• Must have a valid US driver's license and reliable personal automobile for business use.
• Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop and other equipment.
• Access to password-protected Wi-Fi for data transmissions and responsibilities.
• Able to keep project information confidential.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and after dark.
• Must be comfortable asking survey questions on sensitive subjects.
• Must be willing to work approximately 20 hours a week, including weekends and weekday evenings.
• Must be comfortable working in unfamiliar areas.

Responsibilities

• Traveling to selected locations to recruit study participants.
• Locating dwelling units and identifying eligible adult household members; administering a screening interview and recruiting respondents for longer main interview.
• Interacting with others and approaching households without a prior appointment.
• Making in-person contact with respondents to discuss the study and obtain participation.
• Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires.
• Independently managing administrative duties, including conference calls and online trainings.
• Safeguarding project equipment and incentives.
• Submitting timely Time & Expense reports.
• Attending scheduled project meetings via Zoom.
• Maintaining reliable home internet access for project work.
