Position Information

Position Title: Part‑time Faculty, Spanish

Department: World Languages Department

Primary Location: N/A (may include day, evening, weekend, distance education, or multiple campuses such as San Marcos campus and/or off‑campus locations)

Projected Start Date: (not specified)

Work Schedule: Day, evening, or weekend; may include multiple locations (San Marcos campus or off‑campus)

Hours per week: Max 67% of a full‑time load

Initial Placement Hourly Range: $75.81–$119.20 (instructional); $74.60–$117.69 (non‑instructional)

Retirement Plans: APPLE (Accumulation Program for Part‑Time Limited‑Service Employees)

Job Duties

The World Languages department seeks qualified part‑time instructors to teach Spanish. Teaching assignments may include any approved curriculum courses within the discipline of Spanish.

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed below:

  • A Master’s degree in the language being taught.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the language being taught AND a Master’s in another language or in linguistics.
  • A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in either 1) or 2) above. Candidates who do not meet the specific minimum qualifications must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form (www.palomar.edu/hr/equivalency-app/).

Only coursework completed at accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will satisfy the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees earned outside the U.S. must have transcripts evaluated by an appropriate U.S. credential evaluation service, such as the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE).

Part‑time faculty members receive supervision from the Division Dean and direction from the Department Chair.
