Job Overview

The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Roosevelt University invites applications for a part‑time teaching position in Sociology. An M.A. in Sociology or related field is required, though some doctoral work is preferred.

Salary

The current salary for this position is $3,982.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to undergraduate students.
• Teach one Introduction to Sociology course per academic semester and, if desired, one 200‑level course in Juvenile Justice, Health and Inequality, or Social Issues.

Teaching Modalities

• In‑person, hybrid, and online asynchronous instruction.
• Demonstrate proficiency with online teaching technologies such as Blackboard Ultra and Zoom.

Service

• Engage in department, college, and university service activities when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• M.A. in Sociology or related field.
• 0–1 years of relevant experience.
• Appropriate credentials in the field (ASLTA certification, ASLPI Level 4, Certified Deaf Interpreter: CDI or DI).

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one semester of teaching experience.

Working Conditions

Normal climate‑controlled office environment is provided. The job is largely sedentary, with the need to move around the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds).
