Job summary

The College of Education at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Faculty Mentors to supervise alternative teacher licensure candidates. Appointments are part-time (<50% time) and made semester-by-semester, per ACT scheduling.

Mentors will conduct observations, mentor candidates, attend monthly meetings, and coordinate with school-site personnel. Some supervision may be hybrid or remote; background checks are required; positions are open until filled.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
• Professional teaching experience is required.
• Experience mentoring pre‑service teachers is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct formal and informal lesson observations in‑person or via video tools to set goals with candidates.
• Assess candidates' work submitted in an assessment database (lesson plans, reflections, videos, etc.).
• Complete dispositional assessments for candidates.
• Perform a summative evaluation of each candidate's performance each ACT period.
• Score candidates' summative program portfolios.
• Enter documentation into an assessment database and maintain accurate records.
• Meet with each candidate individually once or more per month and communicate with school site personnel.
