Job summary

San Jacinto College invites applications for part-time instructors to support the Medical Assisting program in Houston. Instructors are hired on an "as needed" basis and assignments may include evenings or weekends, with on-site duties as required by course needs.

Qualified applicants hold at least an Associate's degree or higher and CMA or RMA certification, plus a minimum of three years of related work experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years direct or related work experience exclusive of teaching.
• Must be a certified medical assistant (CMA) or a registered medical assistant (RMA).

Responsibilities

• Teach Medical Assisting courses as assigned using various delivery methods.
• May include evening and/or weekend classes.
• On-site presence at the assigned work location as needed.

Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies. Instructors employed as part-time faculty are not entitled to all the rights, privileges, and benefits of regular, full-time employees. Part-time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and will work for the duration of time specified by the respective course. A portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes and possibly weekend classes. Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher required.
• Minimum of three (3) years direct or related work experience exclusive of teaching required.
• Must be a certified medical assistant (CMA) or a registered medical assistant (RMA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in teaching medical coursework in higher education.

Salary Grade: AH

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year.
