Job summary

San Jacinto College seeks an Part-Time Faculty member to teach Maritime Engineering related coursework on-site. Instructors are hired on an as-needed basis and may work evenings or weekends, depending on course requirements and student needs.

The role requires teaching Coast Guard approved courses or Train The Trainer certification, with at least one year of engineering management experience. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching U.S. Coast Guard approved courses or Train The Trainer per STCW Rule A-I/6 and A-I/8.
• At least one year of experience at Engineering Management Level (Chief Engineer, First Assistant Engineer or Limited Chief Engineer).
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of computing systems and software; team player/leader; prioritizes student learning.

Part-Time Faculty - Maritime (Engineering)

Teaching Maritime Engineering related coursework.

Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies. Instructors employed as part-time faculty are not entitled to all the rights, privileges, and benefits of regular, full-time employees. Part-time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and will work for the duration of time specified by the respective course. A portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes and possibly weekend classes. Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have experience in teaching U.S. Coast Guard approved courses or have taken Train The Trainer course as required by STCW Rule A-I/6 and A-I/8.
• Must have or had at least one year experience at the Engineering Management Level such as Chief Engineer, First Assistant Engineer or Limited Chief Engineer.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
• Must have a working knowledge of computing systems and software, be a team player/leader, and place a high priority on student learning.
