Job description

Part‑time faculty positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed quarterly. Applicants remain active for 12 months. Submission does not guarantee a position.

Position Highlights

This position is responsible for preparing and teaching introductory Engineering courses.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare and teach Engineering Design, with an emphasis on teamwork, project management, design process, and service learning.
  • Prepare and teach parametric solid modeling using SolidWorks software to create virtual models.
  • Prepare and teach hand‑drawing as a tool for visualization.
  • Prepare and lead previously developed in‑class design activities.
  • Interface with clients regarding service‑learning projects.
  • Prepare and teach other freshman and sophomore transfer engineering courses.
  • Mentor student teams and evaluate student work.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in engineering or closely related field from an accredited college or university, or comparable professional credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching college‑level engineering courses.

Terms of Employment

This is a part‑time faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Classes may be on Tacoma or Gig Harbor campus, hybrid online, or fully online with Canvas. Evening hours may be required. Salary ranges from $1,380.59 to $1,510.48 per credit hour, subject to COLA and other adjustments. Eligible part‑time faculty may access health and retirement benefits after two consecutive quarters of half‑time or more employment.
