Job summary

Portland Community College is seeking part-time faculty for computer science courses. The department will review applications for substitute and full-term assignments based on course needs during the Academic Year.

Qualified applicants may be considered for a variety of teaching duties, and you will be asked to list PCC courses you can teach. The college emphasizes equity, inclusion, and a learning community environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field such as Electrical Engineering, Math, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Systems Science.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject and 2+ years of game development experience.
  • Ability to teach PCC courses listed in the PCC Course Catalog

Responsibilities

  • Teach PCC courses in Computer Science as assigned for the Academic Year.
  • Prepare and review course materials and evaluations in line with PCC policies.

Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Computer Science. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area.

This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field such as Electrical Engineering, Math, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Systems Science.

For game development classes, consideration will be given to candidates with:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant subject

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in computer game development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering

  • Relevant recent industry or education/teaching experience

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC

Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
