Job summary

Northern Arizona University seeks a part-time faculty member in SICCS to teach and provide service in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering. The pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on enrollment and funding.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses, with focus areas like Internet of Things, embedded systems, and control systems. A M.S. or B.S. with industry experience qualifies; Ph.D. is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering by time of appointment.
• Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 3–4 years of industry experience.
• A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent.
• Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering is preferred.
• Experience teaching courses at the university level.
• Experience with modern pedagogical practices and tools.

About the Department/College

The School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems (SICCS) is known for its student-centered approach and strong emphasis on hands-on learning and research. We offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, offered by approximately 60 faculty in the school, with roughly 1,200 undergraduate and 500 graduate students. The department fosters close faculty-student interaction, with a focus on mentoring and collaborative research, partnering with local and national organizations to apply engineering solutions to real-world problems, especially those relevant to Arizona and the Southwest.

About the Position

Northern Arizona University seeks applicants for a part-time faculty member in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems (SICCS). The position involves teaching, and service in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. The intent of the pool is to provide opportunities to our industry partners and community professionals to serve as NAU instructors of record as their skills and experience align with the needs of the college and its students. The number of positions will vary from semester to semester and are temporary. These opportunities may arise on short notice. The pool will remain in place for one academic year (August- May). Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment; OR
• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field, with 3 to 4 years of industry experience in the field.
• *A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated teaching courses at the university level.
• Experience with modern pedagogical practices and tools.
• Industry experience in software or systems engineering.
• Demonstr ted experience working with people from all backgrounds.

Compensation

Anticipated compensation is $2,000 per credit unit. Commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
