Job Description

The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently accepting applications for part‑time faculty positions teaching 3D Animation. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who demonstrates professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach up to 2 courses in Animation per semester. Prepare course materials, syllabi; evaluate and grade student assignments.
• Integrate the use of a learning management system (Blackboard Ultra) and other relevant new technology into instruction where applicable.
• Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include day/night, early morning, accelerated, and virtual courses.
• Apply culturally relevant pedagogies to the teaching and learning process.
• Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values and respects student diversity.
• Bring real‑world industry experience into the classroom, sharing insights, case studies, and practical applications.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Animation or related field.
• Experience teaching courses at the college level.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience working in Animation.
• Professional industry experience in Animation.
• Specialized experience with 3D character animation.
• Willingness to incorporate modern technology and current trends in new technology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and advise students.
• Proficiency in Adobe Software and Autodesk Maya Software.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and willingness to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
• Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
• Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
• Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable) required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent teaching experience at a college or university.
• Teaching experience in Animation.
• Experience with motion capture performance for animation.
