Job Description

The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching 2D Animation. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach up to 2 courses in Animation per semester. Prepare course materials, syllabi; evaluate and grade student assignments.
  • Integrate the use of a learning management system (Blackboard Ultra) and other relevant new technology into instruction where applicable.
  • Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include day/night, early morning, accelerated and virtual courses.
  • Apply culturally relevant pedagogies to the teaching and learning process.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values and respects student diversity.
  • Bring real-world industry experience into the classroom, sharing insights, case studies, and practical applications.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Animation or related field.
  • Professional industry experience in Animation.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience working in Animation.
  • Experience teaching courses at the college level.
  • Specialized experience with 2D animation.
  • Willingness to incorporate and a familiarity with current trends in new technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and advise students.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Software and Autodesk Maya Software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and willingness to contribute to the College's strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent teaching experience at a college or university.
  • Teaching experience in Animation.
  • Experience with 3D Animation.
